According to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of Pediatrics, children of exercisers are more intelligent than their peers and their moms enjoy fewer complications, easier deliveries and a quicker recovery.

Personal Training

If you're like most pregnant women you feel lost at the gym and you're worried about harming your baby. You don't know what you can and cannot do. With the guidance of our highly certified Personal Trainers, you will be able to work out more safely and stay in as good a shape as possible.

The trainers at Topanga Training & Fitness follow the guidelines set forth by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). They design customized programs for you, taking into account the safety of your baby, your exercise history, and your medical needs.

Research has shown the following benefits from exercising while pregnant:

  • Greater ability to handle the discomforts of pregnancy and labor
  • Faster labor, with less need for induction with pitocin
  • Easier to get back into shape and regain your normal weight and shape
  • Help reduce the effects of poor posture and diastis recti (the separation of abdominal muscles that can sometimes happen during pregnancy)

Women who exercise before, during and after pregnancy report fewer instances of discomfort, while improving their self-esteem and body image.

Pilates for Pregnancy:

Pilates is believed to be one of best exercises to do both during and after pregnancy because it is great at building core strength.  When your abdominals, back, and pelvic floor muscles are firm, they will support a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. Pilates is very adaptable and allows the instructor to modify the exercises as your body and abilities change. Pilates is also famous for helping new moms get their figures back after baby is born!

Please note: If you want to take the Pilates classes but have never done Pilates, we recommend taking the Pre-natal Private Pilates 3 session package (only $119) so that you understand the fundamentals.

Pregnancy Massage

At the time when you're experiencing extreme physical and emotional changes, a Relaxation Massage is particularly beneficial in promoting overall well-being. Let any discomforts be gently massaged away by a licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in Pregnancy Massage. Performed only after the first trimester with approval from your doctor.
